Biography

Anne Katz PhD, RN, FAAN, currently serves as Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Manitoba Prostate Centre and Sexuality Counselor in the Department of Psychosocial Oncology at CancerCare Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada.

Dr Katz serves in multiple leadership roles including: Editor for Oncology Nursing Forum and Nursing for Women’s Health, Contributing Editor for the American Journal of Nursing, and Treasurer for the Society for Sex Therapy and Research. She is a journal reviewer for the Journal of Sexual Medicine, Psycho-Oncology, the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing, and the Canadian Journal of Nursing Research.

She is the recipient of multiple awards including the 2016 APEX Award of Excellence for Blog content given by the American Society of Hematology Connection Commentary; the 2016 ROSE Award in Nursing & Allied Health for the work titled, Meeting the Need for Psychosocial Care in Young Adults With Cancer; and the 2015 Book of the Year (Consumer Health) for the book titled, This Should Not Be Happening: Young Adults With Cancer, awarded by the American Journal of Nursing.

Dr Katz is an active member of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (Canada); the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology; the Oncology Nursing Society; the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology; the Society for Sex Therapy and Research; and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. She has authored or coauthored at least 55 peer-reviewed journal articles, at least 13 books, and at least 7 book chapters. Dr Katz’s clinical research focuses on cancer and sexual health.
