Sara Hurvitz, MD, FACP, is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist and currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California of Los Angeles and Medical Director of the Clinical Research Unit at Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, California.
She serves as Co-Director of Outpatient Oncology Practice at Santa Monica-University of California of Los Angeles Medical Center and Director of the Breast Cancer Program in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California of Los Angeles.
A leader in the fight against breast cancer, Dr Hurvitz is an Expert Panelist on the Consensus Panel on Breast Cancer and a member of the Breast Cancer Guideline Advisory Group for the American Society of Clinical Oncology, a member of the Breast Cancer Research Program Integration Panel for the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, and Chief Medical Officer for Translational Research at Oncology-US and is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the American College of Physicians.
Dr Hurvitz is Associate Editor of Therapeutic Advances in Medical Oncology, Section Editor of Medscape’s “Oncology Decision Point,” and an International Advisory Board Member for The Breast (Journal). She has authored or coauthored at least 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and at least 11 book chapters and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for at least 6 peer-reviewed journals. Dr Hurvitz’s clinical research focuses on breast cancer.
